CALL TO ACTION MEETING 7-30-09, NOON

A "Call to Action" meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2009 in 575 McCone Hall at noon where Amatullah and Stephanie will give an up-to-date report on the bargaining sessions and where we are now.    Please email any questions or subjects you would like addressed at this meeting to Amatullah at negotiate88@gmail.com, Stephanie at ladyesq2b@yahoo.com, and cc me at deloresdillard1949@yahoo.com.   Please send your questions before the end of day on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

At the last membership meeting, a lot of you expressed your concerns and comments about President Yudof's furlough proposal to the UC Regents.  Since our last meeting, a few of your questions have been answered by UC or the HR people in your units .  We are still waiting to see what and how the Berkeley Campus will implement the furlough plan.  Amatullah Alaji-Sabrie, our Statewide Chief Negotiator and Stephanie Dorton, a member of the bargaining team was not at our membership meeting to answer some of your questions because they were in a Bargaining session at UC Davis.

I sent Stephanie an email after the meeting with your concerns and questions to be relayed to the Statewide Bargaining Team.

Bargaining will be at LBNL on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 and Wednesday, July 29, 2009.  Anyone wishing to attend the bargaining session on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, should contact Stephanie at the above email address before noon on Friday, July 24, 2009 so your name can be placed on the list of attendees.  If you do not give your name to Stephanie by that date, you will not be allowed to attend the session on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

Please come to the "Call to Action" meeting with some good sound ideas.  Remember, one or two people cannot run a union.  We need the support of all of you.

Lunch will be provided at the meeting.
